Create a mandate

A mandate is one engagement: the seller, what is for sale, the buyers, the process and the CIM, in one place.

Steps

  1. In the M&A view, open Mandates and choose New mandate.
  2. Pick the type. Sell-side (find buyers for a client selling) has every screen these articles describe. A buy-side mandate can be created and tracked on its ladder; its target book and pursuit board are not built yet.
  3. Give it a codename, then the seller, the structure, the business, sector, geography, revenue, adjusted EBITDA and ownership. Choose Create mandate.

The mandate page

  • The ladder: eight stages from Prepared to Diligence and close, each with its one-line play. Move it on as the sale moves.
  • Four counts, each naming its source: the buyer universe, the approved list, buyers in process and IOIs received.
  • Waiting on the seller: add what you are owed, such as a lease schedule, and mark each Received when it arrives. The Mandates page shows how many items are owed and the oldest.

Next: the buyer list.
